As more and more spam is coming through, and the RBL, blacklists etc. are starting to loose the SPAM War, I decided to tighten the restrictions on Mail-Acceptance. Not only does the system from now on only accept mails from systems with correctly configured FQDN in the EHLO/HELO SMTP communication initiation, but also TLS has been setup to be way more restrictive as I noticed many systems - bots - use TLS to connect to the Mailserver - I force the system to perform a very strict certificate chec...

Usual suspect

and guess who is the winner ?
It is strange though that all other webcrawlers respect the site policy. Microsoft seems to not take into account the robot.txt file or any other warning. So - they fell into the Bot-Trap and won't have access anymore to any of my systems - except to view the Blacklist page.

I had several IP-Addresses which Whois Entry first part looks like this:

OrgID: MSFT
Address: One Microsoft Way
City: Re...

Stargate Gateway down for 10Minutes ...

Stargate's Gateway was down for approx. 10Minutes.
The Reason was an automated Update of the Libc6 which failed, forcing the system to run from a stripped down ramdisk to provide at least limited accessibility to the internal systems. Most of the time of these 10Minutes downtime where due to the last mirror/full/incremental backups to be replayed in order to provide a running system.

To prevent such long outages in the future, a dedicated CF-Card has been put into place having alwa...

Blacklisting scripts revised

Seems that the attacks on the solsys.org domain are increasing heavily, even the spam-engine is getting higher hit rates as ever before.
Looking around on the net - I found out there are some sites putting together lists of IP addresses that identify probable drone/Zombie-networks, also all network RIPE Blocks that are not clearly assigned or were the Addresses of the holders are wrong - do exist. Beeing a friend of automation - I adapted my isc-blacklist script to actually include these ne...

All Internal servers had to be restarted due to software updates.
Notably the libc and the kernels have been upgraded - so a reboot was required to have the security fixes applied.
Sorry for any inconvenience.
