 Der OpenSourceSoftware-Marketplace bietet das erste Release der Marketplace eigenen OpenSource Software DVD für Windows-Betriebssysteme an. Die Software-Distribution gliedert sich in die Bereiche Office, Grafik, Kommunikation, Tools und Multimedia.

Die einzelnen Kategorien decken u. a. mit dem Office Paket OpenOffice.org, der Photoshop Alternative Gimp und dem Webbrowser Firefox neben dem privaten auch durchaus den gewerblichen Anwenderbereich ab. Die Installation der einzelnen Komponenten erfolgt über einen menügesteuerten Assistenten, sodass auch Einsteiger recht komfortabel ihre Anwendungen einrichten können.

Die OSS Marketplace DVD richtet sich an Anwender, die auf Ihren Computer eine vollständige Office-Umgebung einrichten möchten und dabei auf eine OpenSource Produktpalette zurückgreifen möchten. Mit Hilfe dieses Angebotes wird der Computer zu einem umfangreich ausgestatteten Office Computer, der auf teure Anwendungslizenzen verzichten kann.
 

 Das Projekt Advolux ist im Sommer 2003 aus der Zusammenarbeit der Rechtsanwälte Arne Stocker, Jörg Schoof und Axel Fachtan entstanden, die sich seit ihrer gemeinsamen Studienzeit in den 90er Jahren an der Freien Universität Berlin kennen und nach Abschluss des Referendariats 1996 bzw. 1997 zur Rechtsanwaltschaft zugelassen wurden.

Die Programmentwicklung baut auf den noch aus der Referendariatszeit stammenden Überlegungen über den Einsatz von Software in einer Anwaltskanzlei auf. Unsere seitdem gewonnenen (positiven wie negativen) Erfahrungen mit anderen Produkten sind in das Projekt eingeflossen.

Advolux wurde erstmalig im Sommer 2004 bei insgesamt vier Pilotkanzleien (und natürlich in den Kanzleien der Gründungsgesellschafter) installiert und ist seitdem ununterbrochen im Einsatz. Seit dieser Zeit wurde Advolux unter Einbeziehung der im Kanzleialltag gewonnenen Erfahrungen ständig weiterentwickelt und ergänzt. Nachdem die Entwicklung von Advolux bereits im Sommer 2006 weitestgehend abgeschlossen war, gründeten die drei Initiatoren im September 2006 die nunmehr für den Service und den Vertrieb zuständige Advolux GmbH. Seit dem 01. März 2007 ist die Release – Version (1.004) von Advolux frei auf dem Markt erhältlich.

 The Rpmfind tool allows automate the search of packages from the RPM Database or maintain your system up-to-date in a more automated way.

The goals of rpm2html are also to identify the dependencies between various packages and to find the package(s) providing the resources needed to install a given package. Every package is analyzed to retrieve its dependencies and the resources it offers. These relationships are expressed using hyperlinks in the generated pages. Finding the package providing the resource you need is just a matter of a few clicks!
 

 Clonezilla, based on DRBL, Partition Image, ntfsclone, and udpcast, allows you to do bare metal backup and recovery. Two types of Clonezilla are available, Clonezilla live and Clonezilla server edition. Clonezilla live is suitable for single machine backup and restore. While Clonezilla server edition is for massive deployment, it can clone many (40 plus!) computers simultaneously. Clonezilla saves and restores only used blocks in the harddisk. This increases the clone efficiency. At the NCHC's Classroom C, Clonezilla server edition was used to clone 41 computers simultaneously. It took only about 10 minutes to clone a 5.6 GBytes system image to all 41 computers via multicasting!

 The MacTeX Technical Working Group (mTWG) was formed in Hawaii in July 2003 at TUG 2003: the Silver Anniversary -- 25 years! -- of TeX, the 24th Annual Meeting and Conference of the TeX Users Group (TUG). Its goal is to work on action items that would enhance current and future development of TeX on Mac OS X. Apple Computer Inc. was a sponsor at TUG 2003 and provided computers, wireless networking, and technical support that enabled TUG to have its first remote live presentation from the Netherlands to an audience in Hawaii.
