Harddisk replaced |

A new hard-disk, 160GB has been put into place. With this - hopefully, all issues should go away.
Note - it is possible that some files are missing - as some errors were notified during the copy process.
However, taking a copy of the still running system has probably less missing files than a 28 hours old backup.
For those reading their mails on my system, if an old mail is missing - let me know. I can restore it from the old backups (50 Weeks rotation is configured)...

Harddisk starts to fail ... |

the harddisk of stargate starts to fail. As I'm locked out on an island, and no ETA for my return is available, I tried to fix all issues, relocate the bad blocks on the harddisk. Hopefully this remote-repair operation will last long enough until my return to swap the hard-drive.

The hardware has been moved to a new location. Up to now - it is in a temporary space which needs to be reworked as soon as a new storage rack has been found. Eventual outages can not be avoided.

A new eBook section has been added to the FAQ. Notably about the PRS-505 eBook Reader from sony. This is a nice little device which can make travel life lighter, especially if you have to travel a lot around, and want to take loads of books with you.
The FAQ will provide some hints on what you can do with that little device, mainly provide links to projects to make life easier if you don't want to be bound to ...

New router in place |

After some time of tweaking, I came to the conclusion to get a new router for my home-network.
Wanting to keep the old infrastructure and compatibility to my scripts etc. - I decided to go to use the RB493AH router from routerboard. It's similar to the old RB153 - however has 9 Ethernet ports (10/100), and a way faster CPU (can be configured to run at up to 800MHz, 640MHz default).
It actually took me around 15Minutes this week-end to adapt the configuration (Ethernet interfaces and firew...
