Luck in flying the Heli |

it was really luck, even though temperatures start to drop (about 18C Celcius), the sun was out - and I had finally taken out the Logo-20 which hadn't been flown for almost 10 months.
I was amazed how easy the flying was. Compared to the Twister I have - this helicopter flies really smooth, answers to commands very easily, does what one wants, and even quite strong side-winds won't make any problems.
With the actual engine and using an external receiver power-pack, I can fly it around 10 Minutes with 2x4000mAh LiPo.
Anyway - I was very happy to be able to fly that helicopter before the winter comes back. However - as our flight-field won't be really usable for my airplanes with snow on it (except maybe for the Beaver - if I put the correct landing gear on), I think the helicopter will allow me to eventually fly through the winter Season (if the temperatures are not too low - the power-packs don't provide enough power if they remain too cold).
This being said, and my Heli-Pilote skills improving (yes - I'm still learning to fly that bird, and I still have to really concentrate), it's getting more and more fun to fly helicopters. Right now - my flying is limited to left 8 and right 8 - and people in my club almost laugh at me - always flying the same stuff ... However - since I got it, It never crashed. And this is something they can't tell about their own flying skills - especially, helicopter flying skills.
Note to all wanna-be Heli pilots. The most important are the reflexes in case the Heli makes a wrong move. Having learned the hard way to fly normal airplanes (means - 10Sec. flight, 2 Weeks reassembling and gluing the pieces during 1.5 years) using a flight simulator is a real help to really train these reflexes.
For these having a really strong gaming-machine (you really need a good gaming machine - 4GB of Ram, at least a NVidia GTX275) you can have a look at the Aerofly 5 RC Simulator. I admit it's fairly new, has really great graphics, however has a online flying feature which is quite fun. Imagine connecting with yout Airplane/Helicopter to a flying field where 10 other pilotes already fly their planes.
